US BO: All-Time Highest Grossing Indian Films

Until a few months ago, people believed that only Rajamouli-directed films could set new records. Even with the biggest stars, other directors’ films could never compete with “Baahubali 2” and “RRR.” However, the popularity of films like “Jawaan,” “Animal,” “Pathaan,” “Kalki 2898 AD,” and now “Pushpa 2” has refuted these notions.

While “Pushpa 2” has already made history as the biggest-ever hit in the Indian market, defeating “Baahubali 2” and “Jawaan,” other films have performed well in the United States.

Nonetheless, even after eight years, Rajamouli’s “Baahubali 2” maintains its record in North India. Only Prabhas’s Nag Ashwin-directed “Kalki 2898 AD” came close to the record of “Baahubali 2” in North America. “Pushpa 2” has joined the ranks of Indian films that have grossed $15 million or more.

NTR’s “Devara” did not perform as expected, despite making huge money from the premiere shows. We’ll have to observe how Ram Charan’s next blockbuster, “Game Changer,” fares in its run.
