Suriya’s “Veerabhadrudu” has performed better at the box office than many had anticipated. Despite its delayed release, the film managed to post solid collections during its opening weekend.
While the Tamil version, “Karuppu,” minted impressive numbers and brought cheer to Suriya, the Telugu dubbed version “Veerabhadrudu” collected around Rs 10 crore net in its first weekend across the Telugu states. This marks one of the strongest openings for a dubbed Suriya film in recent years.
Directed by RJ Balaji, the film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences in Telugu. However, aided by the summer holiday season and the absence of major competition at the box office, the film managed to attract decent footfalls in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The film has come as a much-needed relief for Suriya, who has been struggling to score a commercial success in recent years. The key challenge now is whether “Veerabhadrudu” can maintain its momentum over the weekdays.
“Veerabhadrudu” features Trisha Krishnan as a lawyer, while Suriya plays the role of a God. Director RJ Balaji also appears in the film as the main antagonist.
