Last weekend, multiple Telugu films hit the theaters. These films had to compete with the mighty Marvel movie ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’. Small-budgeted Telugu movies have been facing hard times at the box office. This weekend is no different.
As expectedly, Vishwak Sen’s ‘Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam’ is the solo Telugu film that made decent business. Although the film could not open big on the first day, it saw growth in the collections on Saturday and Sunday. The rom-com in its first weekend collected about Rs 2.6 crore share in Telugu states. It also grossed nearly $100k (Rs 75 lakhs) in the USA.
All in all, Vishwak Sen’s ‘Ashoka Vanamlo Arjuna Kalyanam’ is the winner among the three new releases. The other two – Sree Vishnu’s ‘Bhala Thandanana’ and Suma Kanakala starrer ‘Jayamma Panchayiti’ – were non-starters at the box office.
‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ took the box office by storm in urban pockets in the Telugu states. On the other hand, ‘KGF2’ continued its run adding some more moolah to the kitty.
