The year 2023 saw “Devil” starring Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and “Bubblegum” releasing on the final Friday. These films were released in theaters last weekend to capitalize on the New Year’s spirit. But neither film received massive response.
“Devil” began with a fairly ordinary opening. The film was not promoted well. In fact, it received little publicity. Similarly, the film’s openings were unremarkable. No growth was noticed over the weekend.
“Bubblegum” is aimed at the youth. More than anything, Roshan Kanakala’s family (he is the son of popular actors Suma Kanakala and Rajeev Kanakala) wanted people to appreciate his acting and accept him as a hero. Roshan made a confident debut, but the box office numbers were disappointing.
Salaar inches toward $9 million mark
“Salaar” maintained its box office dominance. The film did well in its second weekend at the domestic box office. Although it is still a long way of reaching the break-even point, the film has already emerged as the highest grossing Telugu film in 2023. “Salaar” is now closing in on the $9 million mark at the US box office.
