Pan-Indian Telugu movies land in crisis

The earth-shattering records created by Baahubali movies have changed the business of Telugu films. The entire Indian movie trade pundits and national buyers have shifted their focus to the Telugu film industry. No wonder that the trend of Pan-Indian projects in our Tollywood has become the buzzword.

First, it was Prabhas who initiated the trend. Post-Baahubali, all his films have become Pan-Indian projects starting with ‘Saaho’. Currently, he has ‘Radhe Shyam’, ‘Salaar’ and ‘Adipurush’, which will release in multiple languages simultaneously nationwide.

To gain the craze nationally and expand their markets, all leading stars of Tollywood have started chanting the same mantra – Pan-India projects. Allu Arjun, NTR, Ram Charan, Vijay Deverakonda, Chiranjeevi, and other stars have already been doing the same. Except for Prabhas’s movies and Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, none of the other projects have the same craze.

The second wave of the pandemic has further spoiled the prospects of these other so-called pan-Indian projects.

In fact, Rajamouli himself struggled to sell off the rights of ‘RRR’ to various players. The moment Jayantilal of Pen India came forward to buy the movie’s all-India theatrical, digital, and satellite rights for a whopping Rs 400 crore, he readily had sold off to reduce the burden of negotiating with various buyers and plyers.

Imagine what would be the plight for other pan-Indian projects. Things would have been great had the pandemic crisis not happened. But the corona second wave has poured the water on the hopes of our stars and filmmakers.

Currently, Pawan Kalyan – Krish’s ‘Hari Hara Veeramallu’, Ram Charan- Shankar’s Film, Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa’, NTR and Koratala Siva’s new film, Vijay Deverakonda – Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Liger and Chiranjeevi’s ‘Acharya’ are being projected as Pan-Indian projects.
