Three 2024 debutantes who made a splash!

Rukhmini Vasanth, Nayan Sarika and Bhagyashri Borse

Many female actors from Kerala and Mumbai have made their Telugu film debuts over decades, yet the majority have faded into obscurity. It seems like Bengaluru girls are slaying it in Telugu these days. And 2024 is no exception.

More than 30 up-and-coming Telugu actresses dabbled in low-budget and big-star films in 2024. Only three heroines stood out among the more than 30 new talents. Check out these three actresses who wowed moviegoers and directors.

Rukmini Vasanth

Rukmini Vasanth signed her first Telugu film in 2021, but it took several years for its release. Her Telugu-dubbed film, however, had a significant impact. Her Kannada film, Sapta Saagaradaache Ello-Side A, was dubbed into Telugu as “Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati-Side A” and received high praise from critics, while the Telugu version attracted a niche following.

Her straight Telugu film “Appudo Ippudo Eppduo,” in which she costarred with Nikhil Siddhartha, failed to perform well at the box office. She is now appearing in a Tamil film with Sivakarthikeyan and is expected to be a strong contender for NTR-Prashanth Neel’s flick.

Bhagyashri Borse

Bhagyashri Borse’s debut created a huge hype. Director Harish Shankar first discovered this Mumbai model. Known for giving new life to the actresses like Pooja Hegde, Harish Shankar also presented her in the most glamorous manner in “Mr. Bachchan,” her first Telugu film. Her sensuous dance steps and glam appeal no doubt had created a lot of buzz before the release. But the film tanked at the box office.

Despite her first film flopping in a big way, she captivated the filmmakers and got many offers.

Bhagyashri Borse

Bhaghyashri Borse is currently acting opposite Ram Pothineni in a film being directed by Mahesh Babu P. and has paired up with Dulquer Salmaan in “Kaantha.”. Her next release will be Vijay Deverakonda and Gowtam Tinnanuri’s period crime drama.

Even before her debut film hit the theaters, she created herself a huge craze and bagged all these projects.

Nayan Sarika

Nayan Sarika had scored two hits this year out of three films she appeared in. The Mumbai girl debuted in “Gam Gam Ganesha” opposite Anand Deverakonda, and the film tanked. However, she gained popularity with her next two films—Aay and Ka. Her village belle looks have struck a chord with the Telugu audiences, and she scored two hits in such roles.

Nayan Sarika

In “Ka,” she played a village girl of a bygone era, and this Kiran Abbavaram starrer became a good hit. In “Aay,” she charmed the audiences in the role of a Godavari-native girl. The film starred NTR’s brother-in-law Narne Nithin, which was also a decent success.

Nayan Sarika has multiple projects in her kitty.
