Young and new actresses in high demand for high-profile films

In the Telugu and South Indian film industries, there is a growing demand for young and fresh faces, especially among the new generation of audiences. Actresses who quickly gain popularity tend to receive lucrative offers. Despite male stars often being in their 40s or 50s, filmmakers consistently pair them with actresses in their early twenties. This trend is why actresses like Mamitha Baiju, Imanvi, and Kayadu Lohar are landing major roles in high-profile films.

Mamitha Baiju

Mamitha Baiju, the 23-year-old Malayalam actress, became a sensation with the hit film “Premalu.” Following its success, she has caught the attention of both Tamil and Telugu filmmakers. She is currently playing a key role in Vijay’s “Jana Nayagan”—a Tamil remake of Bhagavanth Kesari—where she reprises Sreeleela’s, though not as Vijay’s romantic lead. Mamitha has also signed a Telugu-Tamil bilingual film opposite Suriya, directed by Venky Atluri, which was launched recently.

Imanvi

Imanvi, aged 28, is making her acting debut opposite pan-India superstar Prabhas in the war drama “Fauji.” She plays the female lead and love interest of Prabhas. Imanvi gained visibility through her popular Instagram reels, which helped her land this major opportunity. While she may not be as young as Mamitha, her debut in such a high-profile project still fits the industry’s pattern of casting new faces opposite top stars.

Kayadu Lohar

Although Kayadu Lohar appeared in a Telugu film three years ago, she gained prominence due to her performance in the Tamil hit “Dragon.” Playing one of the female leads, the film’s success brought her widespread recognition. Now 25, Kayadu is set to star alongside Nani in “The Paradise” and has also been cast in Simbu’s 49th film in Tamil.

Rukmini Vasanth

Rukmini Vasanth, 28, made waves with her performance in the Kannada film “Sapta Saagaradaache Elle Side A & Side B.” Her growing popularity has earned her a lead role opposite NTR in Prashanth Neel’s upcoming action film.
