Boney Kapoor slams ‘Baahubali’ producer Shobu Yarlagadda

Sridevi and Baahubali team

The late Sridevi was originally director S.S. Rajamouli’s first choice to play the iconic role of Sivagami in “Baahubali.” Rajamouli was reportedly keen on casting her and personally narrated the story to her. However, the role eventually went to Ramya Krishna, and the rest is history. “Baahubali” went on to break all-time records in Indian cinema.

Following the film’s release, reports emerged claiming that Sridevi had made unreasonable demands during the pre-production phase, including asking for an entire hotel floor for herself and her team. Both Sridevi and her husband Boney Kapoor had strongly denied these allegations at the time.

In a candid interview with Komal Nahta, Boney Kapoor finally opened up about the matter in detail.

He strongly condemned producer Shobu Yarlagadda for deliberately sowing misunderstanding between Sridevi and Rajamouli. Boney Kapoor revealed that Shobu Yarlagadda was responsible for feeding false information to Rajamouli, deliberately misrepresenting Sridevi’s position.

He further disclosed that Shobu quoted a remuneration far below what Sridevi had received for English Vinglish, and firmly denied the claim that Sridevi had ever asked for an entire hotel floor.
