Vijay Deverakonda has teamed up once again with director Rahul Sankrityan after their successful collaboration Taxiwala. The film, previously referred to as VD14, has now been officially titled “Ranabaali.”
On the occasion of Republic Day, the makers unveiled the title along with a striking first-glimpse video. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with T-Series Films, “Ranabaali” is set against the backdrop of colonial-era Rayalaseema and explores a dark, largely unknown chapter of Indian history.
The glimpse introduces Vijay Deverakonda as a fierce warrior who rises against brutal British officers responsible for a genocide. The video makes a powerful statement:“This is not the story of Independence. This is the story of a dark hidden chapter before it.”
It further claims that the atrocities were “worse than Hitler’s Holocaust,” highlighting staggering figures of wealth looted and lives lost during British rule.
Sporting a thick, twirled moustache and long hair, Vijay Deverakonda delivers an intense screen presence. One arresting visual shows him riding a horse while dragging a ruthless British officer along railway tracks, firmly establishing Ranabaali as a symbol of rebellion and rage.
The film stars Rashmika Mandanna as Jayamma, while Arnold Vosloo essays the role of British officer Sir Theodore Hector. Renowned Bollywood composers Ajay–Atul elevate the impact with a riveting background score for the glimpse.
