Telugu films faced stiff and unexpected competition at the North American box office this weekend, with a Bollywood release stealing the spotlight. Border 2 delivered a powerful opening and dominated the US market, outperforming all Telugu releases currently in theatres.
Starring Sunny Deol, the Hindi war drama grossed an impressive $1.3 million in North America during its opening weekend.
The film surged ahead of Telugu titles such as Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju, and Nari Nari Naduma Murari, emerging as the top weekend performer.
Border 2 is a sequel to the iconic 1997 classic Border. Directed by Anurag Singh, the film revisits the 1971 Indo-Pak war, focusing on key battles like Basantar. Alongside Sunny Deol, the film stars Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh as war hero Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, and Ahan Shetty.
