Amid speculation that “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” might contain political references or target rival parties, director Harish Shankar has issued a clarification.
The film stars Pawan Kalyan in the lead role, and ever since the release of the second single “Aura of Ustaad,” discussions began online about possible political dialogues and subtle jabs at opponents. Certain lines in the song were perceived as reflecting Pawan Kalyan’s political persona and influence.
Responding to the buzz, Harish Shankar released a video statement. He revealed that from day one of the project, Pawan Kalyan had clearly instructed the team to keep politics and cinema separate.
“Pawan Kalyan garu stressed that politics and cinema are entirely different. He believes cinema is meant purely for entertainment and should be enjoyed by everyone,” Harish Shankar said.
The director further explained that despite ideological differences with Prakash Raj, Pawan Kalyan never hesitated to work with him in films like “Vakeel Saab” and now in “Ustaad Bhagat Singh.” According to Harish Shankar, this reflects Pawan Kalyan’s belief that political differences should not interfere with filmmaking.
He firmly stated that “Ustaad Bhagat Singh” does not target, criticize, or troll any political party or individual.
Harish Shankar also appreciated Pawan Kalyan’s fans who personally reached out to him, urging that the film avoid overt political references.
With this clarification, the makers hope to shift the focus back to the film’s entertainment value ahead of its release.
