Mahesh Babu turns 50: An affable Superstar!

Superstar Mahesh Babu has turned 50, though it’s hard to believe, given his youthful looks and the fact that he appears more dashing than ever. The actor quietly rang in his milestone birthday today.

Mahesh began his acting journey as a child artist in his father Superstar Krishna’s films before making a smashing debut as a lead hero with “Raja Kumarudu” in 1999. Since then, he has delivered a string of memorable blockbusters including Murari, Okkadu, Athadu, Pokiri, Businessman, Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, Dookudu, Srimanthudu, Bharat Ane Nenu, Maharshi, and Sarileru Neekevvaru. His most recent release was 2024’s Guntur Kaaram.

He is currently working on the biggest film of his career, #SSMB29, directed by SS Rajamouli. Billed as a globe-trotting adventure, it carries the highest budget for both their careers. The makers, however, have kept everything under wraps with no publicity material revealed so far.

To mark the milestone, his 2005 classic “Athadu” returned to cinemas in a 4K re-release on August 8 and 9, drawing huge crowds of fans.

Mahesh Babu’s Charity work

Beyond cinema, Mahesh Babu is one of India’s highest-paid brand ambassadors and a committed philanthropist. Through his foundation, he has sponsored life-saving congenital heart surgeries for countless children.

On the personal front, he married actress Namrata Shirodkar on February 10, 2005, and the couple has two children: son Gautam and daughter Sitara.

Non-controversial

Over the years, he has won numerous honors, including three Nandi Awards for Best Actor and four Special Jury Nandi Awards. Known for his affable nature and non-controversial image, Mahesh stays away from politics, groupism, and caste-based issues — a rarity among Telugu superstars.
