The first instalment of Mani Ratnam’s period drama ‘Ponniyan Selvan,’ based on the same-named novel, was released in September of this year. An unprecedented success in Tamil Nadu, the film broke all box office records. Earnings for the Tamil version around the world were just as glorious.

Unfortunately, neither the Telugu nor the Hindi versions were commercially successful.
“Let’s get those swords in the air as we await the 28th of April 2023,” Lyca Productions tweeted announcing the release date.
The historical drama, helmed by Mani Ratnam, stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayam Ravi, and Karthi. The film is two-part drama.
