Malayalam superstar Mohanlal set a major trend with the “Drishyam” franchise, which went on to become one of the most successful thrillers in Indian cinema. The original Malayalam film was remade in Telugu with Venkatesh in the lead and also saw successful adaptations in Hindi and Tamil. Now, the much-awaited third part in the franchise is officially underway.
The makers today announced that “Drishyam 3” will release worldwide in theatres on April 2, 2026.
Mohanlal reprises his iconic role as a cable operator with a deep interest in cinema. The gripping murder mystery and family drama is once again being directed by Jeethu Joseph, who has helmed the franchise from the beginning.
The Malayalam version also stars Meena, Ansiba Hassan, and Esther Anil in key roles. Since its 2013 debut, Drishyam has captivated audiences with its intense narrative revolving around a family’s desperate cover-up following a crime. With the third instalment now confirmed, anticipation is running high.
While Venkatesh successfully reprised Mohanlal’s role in the Telugu versions, it remains to be seen whether he will return for the remake of Drishyam 3 or if the Malayalam original will be dubbed into Telugu.
