“Annapoorani”, which debuted on Netflix recently, faced controversy due to some scenes depicted in the movie. Nayanthara played the lead role in the film.
However, the content was taken down from the platform following a police complaint filed against the actors, creators, and the streaming company for causing offense to the religious beliefs of Hindus.
Annapoorani narrates the tale of a budding chef hailing from a traditional Brahmin household. Her father prohibits her from enrolling in a culinary institute due to the requirement of preparing non-vegetarian dishes.
In the complaint, it was stated that the priest’s daughter performed the namaz ritual in order to prepare chicken biriyani in the film. Furthermore, it was also mentioned that it has dialogues that offend Hindu sentiments.
