In recent times, social media has turned into a battleground for fan wars among Telugu cinema followers. Platforms like X.com frequently witness heated exchanges between fanbases—sometimes triggered by news, but more often sparked by trivial remarks. The latest example saw fans of NTR and Pawan Kalyan engaging in a hashtag war, trading demeaning posts about each other’s favorite stars.
The online scuffle reportedly began when news broke that “Hari Hara Veera Mallu” had closed its pre-release business for the Ceded region at a massive Rs 26 crore. NTR’s fans questioned the credibility of this figure, calling it exaggerated. In response, Pawan Kalyan’s fans retaliated by mocking NTR’s box office pull, pointing out that his previous film “Devara” had fetched a significantly lower deal in the same region.
What followed was a spiral of trolling, with both sides digging up old trade records, past tweets, and previous statements to discredit each other’s star.

Interestingly, there’s no direct box office clash between the two stars. “Hari Hara Veera Mallu” is slated for release on July 24, while NTR’s “War 2” arrives on August 14, with a comfortable three-week gap. Still, the fan war rages on, reflecting how silly online rivalry can become, even when there’s no real competition.
