In a last-minute blow to Pawan Kalyan’s OG, the Telangana High Court has stayed the government order (G.O.) that permitted an increase in ticket prices. Even though most theaters in the state had already sold premiere show tickets for Rs 800 online, the court this afternoon suspended the G.O. and posted the matter for hearing next month.
The Telangana government had recently allowed higher ticket prices for the film and approved a special price of Rs 800 for premiere shows. However, the court concurred with the petitioner’s argument that the state’s Home Secretary does not have the legal authority to issue such a G.O.; only district collectors or police commissioners hold that power.
This decision leaves audiences in uncertainty, particularly those who already booked tickets at the increased rates, as it is still unclear whether they will receive refunds.
“OG” is scheduled to premiere in the state at 10 PM tonight.
