Mani Ratnam’s ‘PS1’ aka ‘Ponniyan Selvan Part 1’ has been getting a lot of media space. The film has generated a lot of buzz in Tamilnadu. However, there is no hype around the movie in the Telugu states.
Dil Raju bought the film’s rights. But the promotions are abysmally low. Similarly, the advance sales for the movie in Hyderabad are almost zero. Except for AMB Cinema and Prasads, all other multiplexes show green (available). Cinema industry folks generally book AMB Cinema and Prasads.
Mani Ratnam is a big brand in Telugu but this film might get a boost after the release if the word-of-mouth is strong. As of now, ‘PS1’ is expected to start on a dull way on the opening day. We have to see whether the trend turns better for it in the coming days.
‘PS1’ stars Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Prakash Raj, and Partiban in the lead roles. AR Rahman composed the music.
