Ritu Varma: ‘Mazaka’ is a fun film with an emotional quotient

Ritu Varma co-starred with Sundeep Kishan in the film ‘Majaka,’ which is scheduled for theatrical release on February 26. Ahead of the release, she met the press and spoke about the film’s highlights and progress of her career. Excerpts…

Tell us about the film…

The story written by Bezawada Prasanna Kumar has a solid base for entertaining drama. Director Trinadha Rao is known to present movies in an engaging and entertaining manner. “Mazaka” has abundant comedic elements. It is highly hilarious, yet there is an emotional quotient that is unique to this kind of genre. The significance of the story extends beyond the roles of male leads Sundeep Kishan and Rao Ramesh to encompass the female characters as well.

Give us more details about your character and tell us how the working experience was on the sets.

I appear as a college student. However, the female character possesses a unique trait. An incident from childhood influences her attitude. The director has given a new twist to my image. I play a role that I didn’t explore before. As a co-star, Sundeep Kishan is a lovely guy and a charming actor. Collaborating with him is a joyful experience.

Both director Trinadha Rao and the producer have made me comfortable on the sets. It was a fun shooting experience. I had a lovely interaction with Anshu, who is making her comeback. She is a positive person.

Do you have any dream roles?

I wish to perform an action-oriented role. I also love to do a comic role. Being part of a period movie is also my dream.

Should we anticipate “Pelli Choopulu 2”?

I am eagerly hoping for it. It would be excellent if Tarun Bhaskar planned a sequel to “Pelli Choopulu.”

What are the next films?

I have signed a multi-starrer film in Telugu. I have also completed a web series.
