The Odyssey scores massive opening weekend in India: $124 million in North America

Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” has delivered a stellar opening at the global box office, emerging as one of the biggest releases of the year. The epic drama grossed $264.1 million worldwide in its opening weekend.

In North America, the film collected $124.5 million, marking Nolan’s biggest opening since The Dark Knight Rises, which debuted with $160 million in 2012. It also registered the third-biggest opening of the year, behind Toy Story 5 ($159 million) and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($131 million).

The opening is particularly impressive considering The Odyssey carries an R rating, restricting younger audiences from purchasing tickets without an accompanying adult.

Internationally, the film added $139.6 million from 73 overseas markets, taking its worldwide opening weekend total to $264.1 million.

In India, The Odyssey also enjoyed a sensational start, grossing approximately Rs 74 crore during its first weekend, making it one of Christopher Nolan’s strongest openings in the country.
