Saaho's poor run in the USA affecting Sye Raa deal!
Prabhas’s ‘Saaho’ might have collected more than $8 million from the overseas markets in the last three days but it has not set the box-office on fire in the crucial market – the USA. It gained money in the Gulf region. But for other Telugu biggies, the USA is the central market for the overseas. With ‘Saaho’ looking at a mere $3 million life-time gross, the overseas distributors are not willing to shell out hefty amounts to the other forthcoming biggies.
Ram Charan who produced his father’s dream project ‘Sye Raa’ with an estimated budget of Rs 200 Cr has not sold off the movie’s overseas rights. He has been waiting to see the result of Prabhas’s ‘Saaho’ in the USA market. He hoped that ‘Saaho’ would create a rampage in the USA and that would eventually provide hype about ‘Sye Raa’. Now that ‘Saaho’ is underperforming in North America, Ram Charan may not squeeze a good deal from the overseas market.
‘Sye Raa’ has already recorded stunning pre-release business deals in India. It has set new records in some territories in the domestic market but it is not fetching much from America.
‘Sye Raa’ is a period drama starring Megastar Chiranjeevi in the role of a freedom warrior Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. ‘Sye Raa’ is slated for October 2nd release. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s previous movie ‘Khaidi No 150’ was a huge hit in the USA with $2.4 million gross.
