Sai Durgha Tej advocates for parents – children communication

On Saturday in Hyderabad, the Abhayam Masoom Summit 2025 was held with great enthusiasm to raise awareness against child sexual abuse. At the event, actor Sai Durgha Tej delivered a compelling speech on the crucial topic: “Every Child Matters in a Digital World: The Collective Responsibility to Keep Children Safe Online and Offline.”

Prominent attendees included Minister Seethakka, Young Indians Co-Chairman Bhavin Pandya, National Chairman Tarang Khurana, CII Telangana Chairman Siva Prasad Reddy, Jyotsna Singh, and others. Organized by Young Indians (Yi), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the summit brought together young professionals from over 70 cities across the globe. This important initiative was jointly driven by Bharat Rising, Young Indians, and the CII.

Speaking passionately, Sai Durgha Tej stressed the urgent need for society to protect its children:

“Today, children are being abused openly on social media. People don’t just make inappropriate comments – they also ‘like’ and laugh at them. It’s heartbreaking. Is this the society we want to nurture? How can anyone justify such disgusting remarks about children?”

He continued, “I waited to see if anyone – the media, the public – would speak up, but silence prevailed. So I decided to take responsibility and respond. Some people hide behind the excuse of ‘dark comedy’ to make senseless and harmful remarks. Freedom of speech is important, but it should never come at the cost of harming others.”

Sai Durgha Tej proposed practical steps for safety online: “Parents must stay aware of their children’s online activities. Social media accounts should be linked to parents’ phone numbers or Aadhaar cards to ensure accountability.”
