Samantha Akkineni is all set to portray the role of Shakuntala in director Gunasekhar’s classical tale titled ‘Shaakuntalam’. This is her first Telugu movie since the release of ‘Jaanu’ last year.
The director earlier considered Pooja Hegde for the same role. However, Samantha has finally signed it.
Based on the classic literary work by Mahakavi Kalidasa, ‘Shaakuntalam’ tells the story of Dushyanta’s encounter, marriage, separation, and reunion with his queen, Shakuntala.
On the eve of New Year 2021, Samantha’s name has been announced. It is yet to be known who would play Dushyanta.
The film is to be produced by Neelima Guna, and Mani Sharma will provide the music.
