Supreme Court revokes bail for Kannada star Darshan

In a major setback, the Supreme Court on Thursday cancelled the bail granted to Kannada top star Darshan in the sensational fan murder case, ordering his immediate arrest. The order also applies to his partner, Pavithra Gowda, and five other accused, who will be taken into custody without delay.

A bench of Justices R. Mahadevan and J.B. Pardiwala ruled that the Karnataka High Court’s earlier decision to grant bail was flawed. Emphasizing that “no one is above the law,” the court directed that the trial and witness examination be expedited.

Darshan is one of the most popular stars in Kannada film industry. He has been out on bail.

Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others were arrested on June 11, 2024, for allegedly kidnapping and brutally murdering Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga.
