Tollywood biggies eye the Global market!

SS Rajamouli has already set his sights on the global market with his upcoming magnum opus “GlobeTrotter.”

Following his lead, director Atlee and Allu Arjun are also preparing to take Tollywood international with their massive sci-fi venture. The casting is ambitious, and there is talk that Atlee is trying to bring a Hollywood star on board for a crucial role. Tentatively titled AA22xA6, the film is being made with a staggering budget of Rs 700 crore. The team is in discussions with the same Hollywood marketing agency that Rajamouli has approached for GlobeTrotter. The Allu Arjun–Atlee film is planned as a true international release and will hit screens in eight languages, including Japanese and Spanish.

Meanwhile, Prabhas and director Sandeep Reddy Vanga are collaborating on “Spirit,” a high-octane cop drama. The buzz is that South Korean superstar Don Lee may play the antagonist. The makers are also planning a Korean-language release, along with Chinese and Japanese versions, to expand its global reach.

At present, three Telugu biggies, GlobeTrotter, AA22xA6, and Spirit, have officially confirmed their international ambitions. There is also talk that NTR and Prashanth Neel’s “Dragon” may join the list, despite the setback of NTR’s Bollywood outing “War 2” underperforming at the box office.

With such enormous budgets, these filmmakers realize that only vast international markets can justify the investment. At a time when Bollywood is struggling to achieve even a pan-Indian reach, Telugu filmmakers and stars are daring to dream bigger by aiming for the global stage. Let us hope these audacious ventures succeed.
