Upasana Konidela stirred a major debate after her talk at IIT Hyderabad, where she highlighted egg-freezing as an important choice for women seeking financial and personal independence. Critics questioned her suggestions, pointing out that she is not a doctor and comes from a privileged business family.
She also faced backlash for advising young women to prioritise career over family.
Amid heavy trolling, Upasana took to social media and said she was glad to have “sparked a healthy debate.”
She clarified that she married Ram Charan purely out of love. Upasana shared that she tied the knot at 27, froze her eggs at 29 due to both health and personal reasons, had her first child at 36, and is now expecting twins at 39.
“For me, marriage and career are not competing priorities – they are equally meaningful parts of a fulfilled life,” she wrote.
