As expected, “Kalki 2898 AD” received a massive response all over the world. The film set an all-time record in North America. The sci-fi thriller grossed a whopping $3.8 million just from its premiere shows.
This sets a new record for any Indian film. The previous highest for an Indian film was $3.4 million. While Rajamouli’s “RRR” grossed $3.46 million from North American premieres, “Kalki 2898 AD” beat that record by $400k, with overall gross of $3.86 million.
The record openings in North America demonstrate Prabhas’ popularity and stardom. His previous film “Salaar” also had a huge opening. Three of his films were among the top five highest grossing movies (premieres) in North America.
