Vamsy praises ‘Hitchcock’ Telugu book writers

"Master of Suspense Hitchcock" book launch

Pulagam Chinnarayana, a senior journalist and writer, and Ravi Padi, an IRS official, have come up with a book on Alfred Hitchcock in honor of both his 125th birthday and the 100th anniversary of his debut picture. The 62 essays collected in “Master of Suspense Hitchcock” are the work of 45 filmmakers, 7 authors, and 10 journalists.

Acclaimed filmmaker Vamsy introduced the book and presented director Harish Shankar with the first copy, while senior actor Nassar received the second.

Among those who attended the book launch event for “Master of Suspense Hitchcock” were senior actor Nassar, directors Meher Ramesh and Mohanakrishna Indraganti, the president of the Telugu Director’s Association, actors Karuna Kumar, Vara Mullapudi, Devi Prasad, Sunil Kumar Reddy, Sai Kishore Maccha, Ramesh Samala, and Sriman Vemula, among others. Attending were many others, including senior writers Thota Prasad and Prabhu, as well as Subbarao, Prasanna Pradeep, Vaddu Om Prakash, Jalapathy Gudelli, and others.

“I am very fond of Hitchcock,” director Vamsy stated. “I did ‘Anveshana’ because Alfred Hitchcock’s films inspired me to. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first effort in an Indian language. The idea for this book is great. I hope there will be a reissue of this material soon because it is just stunning.”

Harish Shankar, the popular director, said, “We’ve seen Hitchcock’s movies but not him in person. Thankfully, Vamsy Garu allowed us to witness his impact in Telugu cinema. People often refer to Vamsy Garu as Andhra Hitchcock due to his resemblance to the director’s style. I think Hitchcock is the Vamsy of Hollywood. Having him provide me the first edition of this book is a blessing. Bookworms are gods in this era of social media and Generation Z, and writers are angels. Books based on movies are rare. I kowtow to Pulagam Chinnarayana’s devotion; he has been working tirelessly to pique people’s interest in reading by penning articles about the movie business, directors, songs, and everything else related to the cinema. I wish this book could become a bestseller in Hyderabad and have a success meet like we held for movies.”

Mohanakrishna Indraganti, a well-known director, praised Pulagam and Ravi for bringing out this book and said they did an excellent job.
