With Vijay set to become the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, comparisons with senior stars Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have intensified across social media.
Rajinikanth, who enjoyed unparalleled stardom through the 1990s and early 2000s, had often hinted at a political entry. His films and public statements kept fueling speculation for decades. However, he ultimately chose not to enter active politics, citing health and personal considerations when he formally stepped back from the idea a few years ago.
Interestingly, Rajinikanth had recently responded strongly to remarks from Vijay’s camp, suggesting that time would deliver its verdict. With Vijay now emerging victorious in his maiden electoral battle, those comments are being revisited, leading to online chatter and criticism.
On the other hand, Kamal Haasan took a more direct political route by launching his own party. While he has remained active in public life and even entered Parliament with support from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, his party has struggled to make a significant electoral impact so far. He also stayed away from major electoral contests in the latest assembly elections.

Vijay’s success, therefore, marks a significant moment, as he has achieved what neither Rajinikanth nor Kamal Haasan managed in electoral politics.
