Tamil star Vijay’s upcoming film “Jana Nayagan” has been facing release hurdles after running into censor issues. The film, which was originally scheduled to release on January 9, 2026, is yet to get a new release date.
The project has generated significant buzz. For the film, Vijay reportedly charged a massive remuneration of Rs 250 crore.
Earlier, the actor usually charged between Rs 180 crore and Rs 200 crore per film. For instance, he reportedly received around Rs 200 crore for “Varasudu”, produced by Dil Raju. However, his fee for “Jana Nayagan” is said to be significantly higher as it is Vijay’s last film before his active political entry ahead of Tamilnadu elections.
Vijay is known to receive his remuneration entirely through cheque or online transfer rather than cash, a practice he has reportedly followed for several years to maintain financial transparency and avoid tax-related complications.
Meanwhile, the actor’s personal life has also been making headlines. His wife Sangeetha Sornalingam recently filed for divorce, seeking annulment of their marriage. The couple have two grown-up children: Jason Sanjay (25) and Divya Saasha (20).
According to reports, Vijay has agreed to give his entire remuneration from “Jana Nayagan”, which around Rs 250 crore, to Sangeetha as part of the divorce settlement. There is no official word on this, though.
