Analysis

“Bhaag Saale” follows the standard conventions of its genre – crime comedy. In the film, two lovers become embroiled in a criminal gang’s attempt to get a precious ring. In the recent past, similar crime comedies have come out. Even so, “Baag Saale” makes an effort to provide something funny. There are stretches that provide some good laughs.

Rather than relying on improbable situations for laughs, the film puts its emphasis on its whacky characters. The antics of the zany characters are amusing to a point. But the narration falls short in its effectiveness.

Director Praneeth Bramandapally has trouble keeping audiences interested in the film after a point.

The film shows that Sri Simha Koduri has improved his acting chops.

As he has in similar roles in recent Telugu films, Tamil actor John Vijay delivers another polished performance. Sudarshan does his role effectively. Neha Solanki is okay. Satya is very entertaining as Promise Reddy.

The background score by Kaal Bhairava improves the film. The work of the other technicians has been adequate at best.

Bottom-line: The crime comedy thriller “Bhaag Saale” is entertaining and funny to some part. However, the film’s weak writing and predictable twists are also a problem.
