The Great Pre-Wedding Show: Small-town comedies often stumble trying to be too clever or too loud, but The Great Pre-Wedding Show finds its rhythm in honesty. Written and directed by Rahul Srinivas, the film pairs Thiruveer’s restraint with Narendra Ravi’s delightful comic spark, backed by an ensemble that knows exactly how to play their parts without overreaching.
Storyline
Ramesh (Thiruveer) runs a small photo studio in a sleepy town, where his days are filled with photocopies, design work, and subtle glances at Hema (Teena Sravya), who works across the street in the local panchayat office. Their quiet fondness remains unspoken until Anand (Narendra Ravi) a cheerful, politically connected local enters the frame.
Anand’s marriage to Soundarya (Yamini Nageswar) sets the story in motion. He hires Ramesh to film the “best pre-wedding shoot ever,” a gig that quickly becomes a nightmare when Ramesh’s assistant, Ram Charan (Rohan Roy), loses the memory card containing all the footage. Terrified, Ramesh tries to undo the impending disaster through increasingly ridiculous schemes from sabotaging the marriage to setting up awkward encounters that never quite go as planned.
Highlights
The humour here isn’t written for punchlines it grows out of panic, timing, and character. Thiruveer is brilliant in his restraint; he makes Ramesh a man you laugh with, not at. Narendra Ravi is the film’s engine his dialogue delivery, physical comedy, and expressive reactions are a treat. Together, they balance sincerity and silliness beautifully.
Teena Sravya adds emotional grounding, while Yamini Nageswar and Rohan Roy keep the comedic energy buzzing. The supporting cast Jogarao, Prabhavathi, Madhavi, Bank Basha, and Waltair Vinay all contribute small yet memorable moments, enriching the film’s sense of community.
Technical finesse
The real magic lies in the craft. Suresh Bobbili’s background score is mischievously good not loud or intrusive, but delightfully timed to elevate every comic beat and emotional pause. It’s the kind of score that breathes with the scene. Naresh Adupa’s editing adds to that rhythm, with sharp match cuts and clever use of sound cues that make the film feel tight and lively. Soma Sekhar’s cinematography bathes the village in a warm, sunlit glow, amplifying the story’s lighthearted tone.
The team effort behind the film is evident. Agaram Sandeep’s grounded production vision, Kalpana Rao’s steady co-production support, and Prajnay Konigari’s on-ground execution all hold the film together. The costume designers Aarthi Vinnakota and Priyanka Veeraboina get the small details right, while Phani Teja Musi’s production design and Ashwin Rajasekhar’s crisp sound design bring the world alive.
Where it falters
The only shortcoming lies in the dialogues. They’re plain, almost predictable, lacking the edge or wit that could’ve added sparkle to a few moments. Maybe that was the intent, to keep the world conversational and true but it slightly limits the emotional highs.
Verdict: At its heart, “The Great Pre-Wedding Show” is a charming tangle of mistakes and good intentions. It doesn’t aim to impress; it simply wants to entertain with grace and humour. A simple story told with sincerity and that’s exactly why it works.
