Day 1: Andhra King Taluka posts decent opening numbers

“Andhra King Taluka” hit theaters and received decent reviews from critics. Ram Pothineni’s previous movies not only ended as duds but also faced scathing criticism and trolling from social media. This time, however, the film generated mostly positive talk and reviews.

Ram Pothineni strongly believed in the film’s content, promoted it extensively, and showed a lot of confidence. However, the release strategy didn’t quite work in their favor.

Releasing the film in a dull season like November, and that too on a Thursday, impacted the opening numbers. The film posted average collections on Day 1 for this reason. Additionally, Ram Pothineni’s recent track record of back-to-back flops also affected his market to an extent. Considering all these factors, “Andhra King Taluka” took a modest opening.

The film collected Rs 4.5 Cr India net. In contrast, it opened strongly in the USA with about $125k (Rs 1.07 Cr) gross from premiere shows. Altogether, the film grossed over Rs 6 Cr worldwide on its first day. Had it been released a month earlier, the opening numbers would likely have been higher.

“Andhra King Taluka” is a story about a fan and a superstar with a love track woven into it. Directed by Mahesh Babu P and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the film stars Upendra as a movie star and Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead.
