Day 1: Romantic takes a lead in openings

The theaters witnessed the release of two new notable Telugu movies this Friday. They are Naga Shaurya and Ritu Varma starrer ‘Varudu Kaavelenu’, and Akash Puri’s ‘Romantic’.

Both the films have received mixed talk. As ‘Varudu Kaavelenu’ is a family entertainer, it got better reception at urban areas and overseas market, but the youthful drama ‘Romantic’ took strong openings in all mass centers. Mass audiences and the youth came to see the film on the first day. Overall, ‘Romantic’ has an edge over ‘Varudu Kaavelenu’ on the first-day collections in the domestic market.

At the USA box-office, ‘Varudu Kaavelenu’ took pretty decent openings. The film took in about 100k dollars on Day one, while ‘Romantic’ was no starter at the US BO.

Akash Puri and Ketika Sharma’s steamy romantic scenes have managed to attract the target audience. Neither of them has the potential to become blockbusters, though.
