First week collections: Rang De is a disappointment

Nithin and Keerthy Suresh starrer ‘Rang De’, which was released in theatres on March 26, has completed its first week run on a rather disappointing note. ‘Rang De’ won fairly better reviews than Nithin’s previous movie ‘Check’ and it also opened on a strong note on the first day.

But the romantic drama could not sustain the same momentum after its first weekend. The collections for the movie during the weekdays were abysmally low. By end of the first week, ‘Rang De’ has garnered just a little over Rs 11 Cr share from the Telugu states.

Rana’s ‘Aranya’ and ‘Thellavarithe Guruvaram’ which hit the screens along with ‘Rang De’ tanked without a trace. Despite no major competition, the Nithin starrer could not capitalize. The film’s theatrical business was also affected by the rising COVID-19 cases.

‘Rang De’ is produced by Naga Vamshi. He sold the film for good rates. The film was directed by Venky Atluri, whose previous film, Mr.Majnu, was also a dud.
