To cut down the burden of high-cost of productions, Telugu producers have begun giving a stake in the overall business and profits to the heroes. Top heroes like Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan, Prabhas, NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and Chiranjeevi have hiked their remuneration double in just three years. A hero who used to take Rs 25 crore four years ago is now taking home a remuneration of Rs 50 crore.
This has forced the producers to stop giving the heroes fat paycheck. A cut in remuneration and a stake in profits has become the norm.
However, some heroes have become greedy and have started demanding more pie in the profits leaving the producers with little money. Some production houses have already taken the steps not to give any stake in the business for the stars. They are telling them on the face to either take remuneration or not to collaborate with us.
Mythri Movie Makers reportedly following the same for Allu Arjun for Pushpa. NTR and Trivikram’s film was canceled for the same reason. Mahesh Babu is receiving the only remuneration for Trivikram’s next.
Even actors like Sharwanand who have delivered two or three flops in a row demanding an ‘extra’ amount came as a shock to many producers. So, the trend is going to be ended.
