Tollywood: No single hit in July 2022

The Telugu film industry is going through a crisis after witnessing blockbusters like ‘RRR’ in the summer of 2022. All new movies in July have crashed at the ticket window.

On the first of July, Gopichand’s ‘Pakka Commercial’ hit the theaters. The next week saw the arrival of Lavanya Tripathi starrer ‘Happy Birthday’ in theaters and the result was the same. Amidst high expectations, Ram’s “The Warriorr” came to the theaters and tanked. However, due to Ram’s craze and other factors, the film raked in about Rs 16 Crore. This was the highest grosser in July 2022.

The much-hyped Naga Chaitanya’s “Thank You” which was released on 22nd July was a disaster. It could not collect beyond Rs 3 crore. The film turned out to be the biggest flop in producer Dil Raju and Naga Chaitanya’s careers.

The last weekend saw the release of ‘Ramarao On Duty’ and the early trends are not encouraging either.

Dubbed movies like “Gargi” and “Samshera” also tanked. All in all, the month of July 2022 is a forgettable one for Tollywood.
