Weekend BO: ‘DJ Tillu’ is a super hit, ‘Khiladi’ struggles

Last weekend saw four releases at the theaters. Among these two, Ravi Teja’s ‘Khiladi’ and a small-budgeted entertainer ‘DJ Tllu” made huge buzz before release.

Last year, Ravi Teja delivered a huge blockbuster with ‘Krack’ and the trade circle bet high on ‘Khiladi’. The film did massive theatrical business before the release. Expectedly, ‘Khiladi’ took more than Rs 4 crore opening on the first day in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. However, it could not sustain the same momentum thereafter.

The film’s collections dropped heavily on Saturday and Sunday due to negative talk. The first weekend collections in AP and Telangana are about Rs 8 crore. In overseas, it is a declared flop. It could not collect even $100k in the opening weekend in the USA. In Australia, the film collected just 10k dollars.

Blockbuster DJ

On the other hand, Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s ‘DJ Tillu’, which was released on Saturday (February 12) set the box office on Fire. The film has collected Rs 2.90 crore in Telugu states on the very first day. On Sunday, it repeated the same magic. The film is expected to have collected about Rs 5.90 crore in just two days in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The collections in Telangana are huge.

In the USA and Australia, it has become a big hit. In the USA, ‘DJ Tillu’ collected more than 300k dollars in the first weekend. The film also collected about 59k Australian dollars in Australia.

The other two films ‘FIR’ and ‘Sehari’ have not made much impact. Vishnu Vishal starrer ‘FIR’ received decent reviews.
