‘Acharya’ was a box office disaster. ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ is yet to reach the breakeven stage. ‘Radhe Shyam’ bombed like anything. ‘Beast’ was also a flop.
On the other hand, ‘RRR’, ‘Pushpa’ and ‘KGF 2’ did wonders at the box office in recent times. ‘RRR’ was a near record-breaking hit in the overseas and the Telugu states. ‘Pushpa’ witnessed massive success in the Hindi market. ‘KGF 2’ is a phenomenon, it became the all-time second biggest hit in the Hindi market.
The results of all these big-ticket movies prove that audiences are demanding king-size entertainment or excessive action spectacles. They don’t want to settle for regular entertainers in the theaters. After the pandemic, the audiences have clearly sent out a message: small-budgeted movies for OTT watch and big spectacles in the theaters.
The real test for F3, Ante Sundaraniki…
‘F3’ falls in the genre of comedy entertainer. Nani’s ‘Ante Sundariniki’ is a rom-com. If people come in a big way to watch these movies, producers can heave a sigh of relief. Or, the entire movie industry has to change its plans.
