The biopic of Sri Lankan offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan, titled ‘800,’ will be released in theaters on October 6.
Tollywood senior producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad owns the Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi release rights in India. The film will be released on 1100 screens in India.
“Muralidaran’s life is rife with commercial elements. He faced insurmountable odds. The viewer will be perplexed as to how an individual was tested at various stages. He was singled out by two international cricket teams, accused of ‘chucking’ his bowling action, and labeled as a minority,” Said Krishna Prasad.
Madhur Mittal played the main role, and MS Sripathy directed the film.
“Nani liked the script. However, he was not inclined to do the film. Because he’s done ‘Jersey’ before,” Krishna Prasad explains.
Dil Raju, Suniel Narang, Annapurna Studios, Geetha Film Distributors, Padmakar Cinemas, Anjali Pictures, S Cinemas, and others have helped to have wide release in Telugu states.
Lyca Productions and UFO are also involved in the project as distributors outside of the Telugu States. Krishna Prasad has a slew of projects in the works, including one with the ‘800’ director.
