Director Ram Gopal Varma has addressed the cases filed in various locations in Andhra Pradesh concerning a social media post he published earlier. He had a press meet today at Prasad Labs in Hyderabad. He asserted that a segment of the media is exhibiting excessive fervor around his arrest.
During the press conference, Ram Gopal Varma stated, “We live in a democratic India. Satire exists everywhere. Today, when you access social media, you’ll encounter numerous memes. I wrote a similar post a year ago. However, a year later, someone unexpectedly awoke and filed a complaint against me at a local police station. Subsequently, numerous complaints were filed in different locations throughout Andhra Pradesh referencing this one post. Suspecting this to be purposeful, I sought anticipatory bail.”
RGV further stated that there have been reports circulated by some media outlets suggesting that I am attempting to evade arrest.
He said, “When the cops first approached me, I was unavailable. The second time, I requested additional time and even offered to chat virtually by video. The judicial process surrounding my anticipatory bail is proceeding.”
