Bollywood star Ajay Devgn recently stated that most sensible filmmakers in the industry are supportive of new mothers requesting an 8-hour work shift. Speaking at an event in Mumbai, he said that no one would object to such a request. His remarks were viewed by many as a subtle endorsement of actress Deepika Padukone.
Recently, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga and Deepika Padukone reportedly had a fallout. She was said to have requested a 6-hour work shift and a high remuneration to sign on for Vanga’s next film, Spirit. Vanga, allegedly unhappy with her terms, opted to cast Tripti Dimri in the role instead. “Spirit” is a crime drama starring Prabhas as the main hero.
Following media reports suggesting Deepika turned down the role due to the film’s A-rated content, Vanga accused her of running a smear campaign and playing “dirty PR games” against him and the project.
Though Ajay Devgn did not mention anyone by name, his comments are widely interpreted as a veiled show of support for Deepika Padukone.
