Nandamuri Balakrishna starrer “Akhanda 2: Thaandavam” failed to live up to expectations at the box office. The film was initially slated for a December 5 release, but due to financial issues, its theatrical release was pushed by a week, finally arriving in cinemas on December 12.
Despite its theatrical setback, Netflix had acquired the film’s OTT rights for a handsome price and has now officially announced its streaming premiere.
As per Netflix’s usual window of around 28 days after theatrical release for Telugu films, Akhanda 2 is set to arrive on the platform four weeks after hitting cinemas. Netflix confirmed that the film will be available for streaming from January 9, 2026.
Announcing the release, the platform wrote: “Why fear, when the legend Balayya is here. Watch Akhanda 2 on Netflix, out 9 January in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.”
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, “Akhanda 2” revolves around themes of Sanathana Dharmam. Notably, this film marks the first box office flop in the Balakrishna–Boyapati combination, after their earlier collaborations Simha, Legend, and Akhanda emerged as blockbusters.
