When “Liger” was under production, it created a lot of publicity and hype, and many thought it would be the next big pan-Indian blockbuster. Even the film’s star, Vijay Deverakonda, believed that the film would propel him to big stardom, and the film’s heroine, Ananya Panday, sincerely worked hard to gain a market in Telugu.
However, Puri Jagannadh’s “Liger,” a sports drama without a proper script, bombed at the box office, leaving both Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday feeling ashamed. They unquestioningly trusted Puri Jagannadh and endured the consequences. The film received massive trolling, and Deverakonda is yet to recover from its aftereffects.
Ananya Panday, who recently gained appreciation for her Hindi projects, in a recent interview admitted that she did the film only on the recommendation of her father, Chunky Panday. She said she would never go with her father’s script judgment again.
She regretted signing that film.
