Baahubali 2 flops in Japan but makers claim hit

‘Baahubali 2’ is now running in Japan. The film is now in its sixth week. After completing five weeks run, the movie has collected a gross of half a million US dollars. This is too low amount. Yet, producer Shobu Yarlagadda claims this is good amount.

A big film like “Baahubali 2” collecting half a million dollars in a market like Japan should be considered a disaster. Rajinikanth’s “Muthu” collected much bigger amount than this amount two decades ago in Japan (it grossed $1.5 million dollars back then).

On the other hand, there is no clarity yet on the Chinese release of “Baahubali 2”. It seems it is unlikely to get a release there anytime soon even as Aamir Khan’s “Secret Superstar” is creating havoc at Chinese box-office. “Secret Superstar” has collected USD 93.62 million (Rs. 602.67 cr) in just 18 days.
