Riding the wave of pan-Indian cinema, Bellamkonda Sreenivas believed he could make a strong mark in Bollywood. Since several of his Telugu films dubbed in Hindi had racked up millions of views on YouTube, he came to that conclusion.

Carried away by the digital numbers, he mistook YouTube popularity for genuine stardom in the North Indian market. That confidence led him to star in the Hindi remake of “Chatrapathi,” the Telugu blockbuster originally directed by S.S. Rajamouli, with Prabhas playing the lead role.

However, the Hindi version bombed at the box office. The film pushed Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’ career off track.

Now, Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas is promoting his upcoming Telugu film Bhairavam, slated for release on May 30. During the promotions of this film, he opened up about the failure of the “Chatrapathi” remake.

Looking back, he expressed regret over choosing to remake a film like “Chatrapathi,” admitting that he shouldn’t have attempted to remake such an iconic classic.
