Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Gopichand Malineni are joining hands once again after the success of “Veera Simha Reddy.” Their new film will be formally launched in the second week of November, with regular shooting expected to begin in December.
Said to be set against a historical backdrop involving royal families, the film demands a large budget for elaborate sets and extensive visual effects to create a grand period look. Kantara fame Aravind Kashyap has been signed as the cinematographer to ensure high visual quality.
However, the project is reportedly facing budgeting challenges.
With the OTT market shrinking for Telugu films, producers are finding it difficult to secure strong digital deals. Even big films like Akhanda 2 are yet to finalize their OTT partners, as streaming platforms are reluctant to pay the high prices being quoted.
In this situation, the makers of the Balakrishna–Gopichand Malineni film may have to lower their expectations regarding OTT revenue, which will likely result in a trimmed overall budget for the project.
