Superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film Coolie is generating massive buzz, despite stiff competition from War 2. The latest industry talk suggests that Sun Pictures, the production house behind the film, has sealed pre-release business deals worth nearly Rs 500 crore.
According to trade analysts, Coolie has already raked in close to Rs 300 crore through theatrical rights in India alone. For the film to achieve break-even status, it will need to gross over Rs 500 crore worldwide.
Set against the backdrop of gold smuggling, Coolie has used gold imagery heavily in its promotional material. Interestingly, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has clarified that “Coolie” is not a part of his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Nagarjuna Akkineni, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan appears in a special cameo, while Pooja Hegde sizzles in a high-energy item number. Shruti Haasan and Reba Monica John play key roles.
With sky-high expectations and massive pre-release business, all eyes are on “Coolie” as it gears up for a grand release.
