If there is one most-anticipated film, it ought to be ‘KGF 2’, the sequel to the mega Kannada blockbuster ‘KGF’. After ‘Baahubali 2’, this is the only South Indian film that has created such craze at Pan-India level. Produced by Hombale Films and directed by Prashanth Neel, Yash starrer ‘KGF 2’ is in its last leg of shooting.
But the movie’s Telugu rights are still open for bagging.
The latest we hear is that even Sai Korrepati who bought the first part for the Telugu region has now backed off from buying the rights of the sequel. The coronavirus crisis is the reason. Nobody knows the prospects of theatrical business this year. Analysts say that it would take another six months to a year for the theatrical business to bounce back.
Given this scenario, Telugu producers are not ready to pay hefty amounts that the Kannada producers are demanding.
