A total of eight Telugu films are set to release in theaters on July 17, but the box office outlook appears subdued. None of the releases have generated significant pre-release buzz, with “Oh Sukumari” emerging as the only film that has managed to attract some attention.
Starring Thiruveer and Aishwarya Rajesh, “Oh Sukumari” is a rural entertainer blending romance, comedy, and family drama. Aishwarya Rajesh plays a village girl with an unusual condition related to electric shocks, adding a quirky element to the story. The film appears to have the best chance of drawing audiences this weekend.
Another notable release is “Vadhala,” starring Jagapathi Babu, Laya, and Hrithika Srinivas. Despite decent promotions, the film faces an uphill task. Jagapathi Babu, who has successfully reinvented himself as a character actor and villain, no longer commands the same box office pull as a solo lead, making this an important test for the film.
“Mister Middle Class,” featuring Srikanth, Laya, and Rajendra Prasad, is also arriving this Friday, hoping to attract family audiences.
The remaining releases include “M2P” starring Naresh Agasthya, “Raja The Raja” featuring Ruthvik and Vishaka, “Operation Aruna Reddy” with Posani Krishna Murali, “Venkatramayya Gari Taluka,” and “Oka Court Case.”
With no major star-driven release this week, the weekend box office will largely depend on positive word of mouth.
